Unibet Geoffrey Freer Stakes
2.25 Newbury

Since running away with the Ormonde Stakes in May, the only occasion Morando has had ease in the ground was against Enable in the King George. He has been a bit out of his depth in Group 1 and Group 2 races and is much more likely to successfully carry the penalty here over the course where he dead-heated in the St Simon Stakes last October. Good to soft or softer ground would be very much in his favour.

After three victories this year, Sextant steps up from handicaps. His latest success at Ascot in July off 98 puts him in a similar category to the last two Geoffrey Freer winners, Hamada and Defoe, who had won recently off 96 and 98 in 0-105 handicaps.
