In-form staying chaser can continue winning run in weak contest

Credit: Edward Whitaker

Irish Octave
12.20 Southwell
SP forecast 6-4

Winless in his first 17 starts but having had a year off the track after a soft-palate operation, he returned in September to win a Worcester handicap chase off a mark of 74. Rosemary Gasson's seven-year-old then defied a 9lb penalty when winning comfortably at Uttoxeter at the start of October before completing the hat-trick back at that course 11 days later. Up another 6lb.

Conclusion There isn't much strength in depth in this contest and I fancy him to go in again.
