'I feel she's been overlooked' - US expert Shane Ketteridge with two tips

American Rockette
10.27pm Churchill Downs
1pt each-way

Set Piece
11.30pm Del Mar
1pt win

There are some impeccably bred two-year-old fillies in the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes over an extended mile on the dirt and this is being billed as a match between Hoosier Philly and Pretty Mischievous.

However, there’s plenty of value in those against them and I like the chances of American Rockette, who can go well at double-figure odds.

William Mott’s daughter of American Pharoah was impressive when winning on her debut at Saratoga in July and has finished fourth in two Grade 1 races since.

The first of those was in the Spinaway at Saratoga where she was closing late over seven furlongs and had the likes of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies' winner Wonder Wheel ahead of her, so that was a very good run.

She didn’t like the sloppy conditions in the Frizette at Aqueduct and I feel she has been overlooked in this race, especially with the distance being sure to suit, so it wouldn't surprise me if she upset the market principals.

The Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap at Del Mar has been won by some lovely types in the past and this year will be no different as a field of nine top-class older horses go to post, with the Brad Cox-trained Set Piece selected to come out on top.

On his day this is a high-class gelding. He is a six-time stakes winner, three of which have been in Graded company and he is at his best when able to come from off a fast pace.

He should get that, so expect to see him delivered fast and late under Juan Hernandez, who won this race in 2020 on Count Again.
