Heaven proves hell for in-running layers

The early races caused havoc in running on Betfair. In the juvenile hurdle at Market Rasen, 50-1 shot Heaven Scent was one of the first off the bridle, but she stayed on much the best to win a shade readily after £38 was traded at 1,000 on Ann Duffield's filly on the final circuit.

In the 7f maiden at Chester, £590 was traded at 1.01 on 4-11 chance Devil's Bridge, but he could never shake off Thomas Cranmer and was eventually worn down. The winner was matched at 70. It was the third race in succession that the runner-up has traded at evens or shorter in defeat.

Rosebride was done at a low-looking 1.27 on her way to finishing a never-nearer second in the nursery at Chester.
