Hard Toffee is worth another chance back on a faster surface 5.20 Goodwood

It is not difficult to forgive Conrad Allen's lightly raced gelding finishing a well-beaten favourite at Doncaster last time, as it was the third time in as many starts on a soft surface (twice in bumpers) he has bombed out. He is much better judged on his two previous efforts on better ground.

The son of Teofilo got off the mark in a seller under Jim Crowley at Lingfield in May, readily beating a 1-2 shot who has won a similar race since. The ground was on the easy side when he finished a staying-on third at Doncaster next time in a race won by Viserion, who was completing a hat-trick. The runner-up scored next time.
