Gunner Moyne is unbeaten at Chelmsford

Gary Moore's colt has run more bad races than good ones this summer, but I am expecting to see one of his better efforts now he returns to the Essex venue for the first time (8.40) since winning twice in seven days in January.

Although they were both over a mile, the son of Excellent Art probably ran his best race since when narrowly beaten in third over this 1m2f trip at Lingfield last month. Connections were suitably encouraged to try him over 1m4f at Kempton last time, but he was never involved and the jury is still out over the suitability of that trip.

Not surprisingly, following that moody performance, Moore is fitting the four-year-old with a visor for the first time and while he is still 4lb higher than for his last win, Hector Crouch more than takes care of that with a 5lb claim.

Luca Cumani has an excellent record with his two-year-olds at Yarmouth
