Graeme Rodway is sticking with soft-ground specialists in the Uttoxeter Placepot

The ground will be testing at Uttoxeter, so let’s concentrate on mudlovers in the Placepot.

Transpennine Star scored by 56 lengths on soft at Stratford in the summer and should be included in the opener (12.15). It’s also worth putting in heavy-ground winner Saint Dalina.

Temple Man was successful on soft ground at Kelso last year and could go well in first-time cheekpieces in the 2m handicap hurdle (12.45). Pop The Cork looks a solid alternative.

Only four run in the 2m4f beginners’ chase (1.15) so the winner is needed. Northofthewall and Imperial Alcazar are the two most exciting prospects and both handle testing conditions.

The 2m4f novice hurdle (1.45) looks a match between Oneupmanship and Lord Of Kerak. Both go on soft ground and preference is for Oneupmanship, who might just edge it.

Just Henny won off this mark on heavy ground at Fontwell last month only to be disqualified for taking the wrong course. She rates as a banker in the 2m4f mares’ handicap hurdle (2.17).

Go Steady is my nap of the day in the 2m6½f handicap chase (2.47) and is another banker.
