Graeme Rodway fancies his chances of landing the Placepot at Chelmsford

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

The evening action is at Chelmsford and that might prove the best option for landing a Placepot.

The opening 1m2f novice (4.15) is a tight race but maybe it will go to Tarroob. She showed promise when third on her debut at Doncaster and looks open to plenty of improvement.

It’s hard to get away from Orientalism in the 1m2f maiden (4.45). The Godolphin colt was a good second of 17 on his debut at Nottingham and should prove a class apart.

The 7f handicap (5.15) looks a good opportunity for Sonnet Rose, who is well handicapped and partnered by useful 5lb claimer William Carver. Three C’s looks a solid alternative.

The 1m handicap (5.45) is wide open so include Michele Strogoff and Asdaa. Both are well treated and Asdaa shaped like he could soon be back to form when fifth at Kempton last time.

Pearl Beach will be hard to keep out of the places in the 1m6f handicap (6.15) but it’s also worth putting Capla Crusader into the perm. He drops in class and is well handicapped.

The 6f handicap (6.45) is the last leg and Six Til Twelve and Sir Hector both have strong chances. Sir Hector was a good third over 5f at the course last time and is better over 6f.
