Goodwood Placepot tips: Tom Segal with his selections for Sunday's card

By far the best race on the Goodwood card is the final Placepot race, the Goodwood Horse Racing Club Supporters Handicap (4.40) and the key horse looks to be Champagne Piaff, who impressed at Epsom last time.

He looks to have plenty more improvement in him but there is a slight doubt about him back up to 1m4f, so I would include Favorite Moon, who caught the eye in a decent race at Newbury last time.

The jump jockeys get a crack at Goodwood in the opening 2m handicap (1.45) and conditions are likely to suit the National Hunt horses.

Sayo was placed in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham last season and is well handicapped back on the Flat, as is Polish, who is a lot better than he showed at York last time.

Course specialist Atalanta's Boy looks sure to go well again in the Great Sussex Way Handicap (2.55) but he can muck about at the start, so he's risky to bank on. Consequently, I would throw in Spanish Star, who comes from a stable in great form.

The other three races are for the juveniles and it's probably best to bank on the form horse Lil Guff in the Saunders Specialised Services EBF Restricted Novice Stakes (2.20).

Schmilsson shaped well over further on his debut and will be hard to keep out of the frame in the maiden (4.05) but the nursery (3.30) looks really hard and it's safest to put a couple in any perm.

Silvestre de Sousa will no doubt be positive on Mystery Fox from a good draw, while the bottom weight Galileo Glass is on the upgrade and will be finishing off strongly.
