US racing tips: Shane Ketteridge has two selections on Saturday
Obligatory
7.27pm Gulfstream Park
2pts win
White Abarrio
10.40pm Gulfstream Park
1pt each-way
The seventh running of the Pegasus World Cup is the centrepiece on an outstanding card at Gulfstream Park.
This race has been won by some fantastic horses since its inception in 2017, with the likes of Arrogate and Gun Runner taking the prize, and Cyberknife will be looking to emulate Gun Runner, his sire, by winning this before retiring to the breeding sheds. However, course specialist White Abarrio can have a big say about that.
Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr has been singing this horse's praises in recent weeks and it is easy to see why. He is four from four at the course, recorded his best speed figure last time when finishing third in the Cigar Mile at Aqueduct and has been very impressive in recent workouts here.
If Tyler Gaffalione can get him into a nice rhythm in mid-pack early on, I can see White Abarrio running a big race at his favourite course, and he could have his day in the sun.I'll also be keeping a close eye on race eight on the card, in which the classy Obligatory returns for her first start of the season in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes.
I think this mare looks the type to keep improving as she gets older, so this could be her pinnacle year. She has two wins from two starts at this course, one of which came in the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie last season, and there’s not many females around who can live with her devastating turn of foot.
She notched her first win at the highest level last term when swooping late to take the Derby City Distaff at Churchill Downs, and this 7f trip is ideal.A strong pace looks likely and that will set this up perfectly for Obligatory, who is well worth following this year.
