There are four meetings on Thursday with Gowran Park offering the headline action on Thyestes Chase day. Southwell, Wetherby and Newcastle host meetings and here are statistics from each track which could help with your punting . . .

Gowran Park

Willie Mullins unsurprisingly has a few chances in the Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase (2.50). Carefully Selected is the choice of the trainer's number one rider Paul Townend, but the record of Kieran Callaghan for Mullins warrants a second glance at his ride Captain Kangaroo.

It will be the fourth time Callaghan has partnered Captain Kangaroo, and although the pair fell last time they did win the Cork Grand National in November. He was 10lb lower that day but that is decent pedigree for a staying handicap chase like this. Callaghan has seven winners from his last 20 rides for Ireland's champion trainer for a £1 level-stakes profit of £12.13.

Newcastle

Jedd O'Keeffe and PJ McDonald have individual strike-rates of ten and 14 per cent with runners at Newcastle in the last five years, but they have been stronger as a team at the course with a 22 per cent strike-rate. They combine with Percy Willis in the opening 1m4½f handicap (4.00), O'Keeffe's only chance on the card (the trainer is also 2-5 with his recent runners).

Percy Willis was hampered when finishing fourth at Wolverhampton on Monday but did win over course and distance last year, albeit off a 5lb lower mark.

Southwell

Richard Spencer has a fine record with horses wearing first-time blinkers and Thefastnthecurious (12.25) benefits from the headgear for the first time.

Spencer has had three winners from his last seven runners wearing first-time blinkers (strike-rate 43 per cent) and this five-year-old mare is open to improvement over a mile and a half for the first time.

Wetherby

Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero have had a strong start to their training partnership and particularly at Wetherby. The trainers have won with four of their six runners at the course this season and have two chances on today's card – Good Work (12.50) and Swift Tuttle (1.25).

Swift Tuttle is expected to be among the outsiders in the 2m juvenile hurdle, but Good Work has stronger claims in the opening 3m conditional jockeys' handicap chase. He has narrowly missed out the last twice and is unexposed at this trip.
