Next week's action at Goodwood promises a number of enthralling battles.

Ribchester v Churchill has been billed as the latest 'duel on the downs' but, while it promises to be a great spectacle, I can see it going only one way – and that is to the Ribchester camp, as he looks to have everything you want in a miler, while I'm not sure Churchill has what it takes.

The keenest battle may well come in what looks a fascinating Nassau Stakes. Should all the market leaders turn up, there's a rock-solid favourite in dual Classic winner Winter, who is stepping up in trip and out of three-year-old company for the first time, meeting a Breeders' Cup winner in Queen's Trust, the progressive Nezwaah and the returning So Mi Dar.
