Favourite backers have to wait a long time to collect

If you were a favourite backer on Tuesday afternoon the chances are you’d given up hope some time before the first winning one passed the line in front.

That wasn’t until the fifth race on the Fakenham card, which was the 14th race of the day.

It’s not as if the racing was super competitive either, as the odds of the beaten favourites at the Norfolk track before then were 8-11, evens, 3-1 and 9-2, while at Ayr they were 6-4, 13-8, 7-4, 11-4 and 3-1, and at Ffos Las 4-7, 7-4, 7-4 and 3-1.
