Argenterie made a pleasing debut in the Glorious Goodwood maiden in which Marcus Tregoning’s 2000 winner Sayedah was also placed. She was impressive at Salisbury since then and five fillies since 2003 came directly from a maiden victory.

Exmouth will learn from her Yarmouth victory and appreciate the extra furlong like her dam, who won the Oh So Sharp Stakes over this course and distance.

Fair Eva was never travelling over the sharp 6f at York and looked ready for the step up in trip. She had powered clear of Kilmah in the Princess Margaret at Ascot, a race where Roger Charlton's 2002 winner Luvah Girl had been runner-up. She warrants another chance on that form having scared off the opposition.

Glitter Girl won an important St Leger meeting nursery and two former winners, Finsceal Beo and Lahaleeb - both Group 1 scorers subsequently - had taken the nursery route. It seems significant that William Haggas is moving up a filly rated 91 into Group 2 company.

Miss Infinity's Listed win at Vichy looks better than Spain Burg's French form. However she was six lengths behind Fair Eva at Haydock in June and that was over three months ago. She hasn't made vast improvement since.

A couple of former winners won the Sweet Solera Stakes, which Nations Alexander took nicely when making all. The drop back in trip didn't suit her in the Lowther Stakes.

Perfect Madge would have better nursery options off 79, while Spain Burg’s form in the French provinces is difficult to judge. However, with Frankie Dettori booked, a market move should be heeded.

Cougar Mountain has had ten races in Britain without looking like winning. However nine of them were at Group 1 level and Aidan O'Brien's persistence could pay off.
