Epsom Placepot picks: Robbie Wilders makes his selections for the Flat card
Star Player is taken to get us through the opening leg of the Placepot at Epsom (1.40). This course can present a real test for juveniles and Star Player proved his ability to handle the track with a decent third over the course and distance two starts back.
The following four-runner maiden (2.15) looks an open goal for Cool Party, who was only beaten a nose on his debut at Lingfield this month. His form is more appealing than that of likely market rival Native Melody.
City Spirit will be tough to beat in the following 1m4f handicap (2.50) after a first-time hood worked the oracle when he scored at Windsor last time. The aid is retained.
Spectatrice is my strongest fancy of the day and is selected in the 1m2f handicap (3.20). Sir Mark Prescott's filly has a good pedigree and should have much more to offer now she tackles middle distances off an opening mark of 61.
I’ll take a chance on Repartee bouncing back to form in the feature 6f handicap (3.50). Tony Carroll won this last season and this well-handicapped sort might have benefited from a break.
Kimifive is also dropping down the weights rapidly and could be worth keeping on side in the final leg (4.20) on his second start for Ian Williams, who fares well with new recruits.
Alezan is also picked. The booking of Harry Davies is an advantage and this five-year-old should improve for her belated return at Sandown earlier this month.
