Dour stayer can reward his buyers in Exeter marathon

The Close Brothers Handicap Chase stretches to almost four miles over a stiff track where the ground is likely to be fairly testing. There needs to be no doubts over stamina and, while he is stepping up more than half a mile on his longest distance covered, Some Detail is a safe bet to stay.

The selection shaped over hurdles like there wasn't a deep enough stamina test for him over the smaller obstacles. His best run, over 3m2f on soft at Warwick, showed him being strong at the finish in pursuit of winner Fortunate George.

On his first run over fences he was hopelessly outpaced, but that was to be expected given he was not race-fit and running in a warm race over an inadequate trip.

Some Detail remains totally unexposed granted a dour test and he gets it here. He jumped fine at Uttoxeter last time and will find the easy fences over this extended distance a lesser test.

In a 12-runner race in which four places are on offer, a cheap buy who will still be keeping on at the end seems the best play. Some Detail offers just that.
