David Baxter with his best two-year-old bet at Kempton on Saturday
Sarsaparilla
4.50 Kempton
1pt winSince resumption, John Gosden's string has been nigh-on untouchable with 36 winners before the start of racing on Friday. Of those victories only one has been a juvenile, but plenty of the yard's two year-olds have shaped promisingly, including Sarsaparilla.
She looked to need her debut at Haydock. Sarsaparilla showed a bit of temperament before loading and was then green through the race and never really got involved. However, she was only beaten five lengths in fourth and was not knocked about in the final furlong.
There should be plenty of improvement in her and, while this trip might be on the sharp side, I'm hoping she is clued up enough this time to overcome it.
