Cue Card capitulates on comeback

Despite being backed down to 1.23 on Betfair under a positive ride in the Charlie Hall chase at Wetherby, the odds-on Cue Card could not shake off the pack and tired into third on the run-in on his return, with Irish Cavalier (48) seeing it out best.

Four runners traded at odds-on in the Grade 2 hurdle at Wetherby, but it was Silsol who dug deepest after being matched at a high of 38.

Best finish of the day came in the Listed handicap hurdle at Ascot, as the hanging Sternrubin had just enough left in the tank to make all. Fergall traded at 1.23 in finishing a close fourth.
