This was a memorable week for Ken Condon a year ago when Romanised won the Irish 2,000 Guineas and, while there was no repeat of such heroics this time around, he introduced a couple of promising horses who should pay their way as the season goes on.

This three-year-old son of Dark Angel made his debut in what might well turn out to be an informative maiden. He missed the break slightly, travelled well enough in the rear half of the field, but was quite green when the pace began to pick up. He was given a good education when his chance had gone and, as the penny began to drop, he kept on encouragingly late on.
