Bunce could be in right place to give punters Gold Cup clue

Punters either already involved or looking to get involved in Saturday's William Hill Ayr Gold Cup will have to wait until the last race on the opening day of the meeting to get any clues as to how the draw will pan out, as the SM Signs Handicap (5.20) is the only race run on the straight track today.

Connections of Ayr Gold Cup runners won't even get that chance, with the draw made long before, but if they have been paying attention to the GoingStick readings you'd imagine they will be avoiding the stands' side as all week the reading has been lower there than anywhere else.

Low to middle looks the place to be, according to the GoingStick anyway – which did get it right last year as the race developed down the middle, which had the highest reading – so hopefully Bunce is in the right place to put up a big run for Linda Perratt.
