Brighton Placepot: Richard Birch's 16-line perm for the seaside track

Zulu Zander and Shamshon, first and second in a sprint handicap over course and distance at Brighton’s opening meeting of 2021, renew rivalry in leg one (2.00) of the Placepot.

Shamshon may have the race run more to suit this time, but Zulu Zander cannot be discounted with Harry Burns taking off a valuable 7lb.

The Archie Watson-trained newcomer Golden Rainbow is the one to watch in the betting for leg two (2.30).

Navello stayed on strongly to score at Wolverhampton last Tuesday, and should also be included.

Holdenhurst is usually worth considering at Brighton, and rates the starting point for leg three (3.00).

Storm Melody probably went off too fast at Bath last time, and a better showing is expected this time under Hollie Doyle.

Well-handicapped Street Parade is the one to focus on in leg four (3.35), while recent course-and-distance winner Aweemaweh and the low-weighted Stuart Williams-trained four-year-old Wolflet can dominate the finish to leg five (4.05).

The concluding leg (4.40) looks at the mercy of course legend and record-holder Pour La Victoire if he can put a below-par effort last time out behind him.
