Big plunge on God Willing denied by talented El Vip

A fairly sizeable gamble on Declan Carroll’s God Willing went astray in the 1m½f handicap at Leicester when the five-year-old could manage only second behind favourite El Vip.

While El Vip had been market leader since bookmakers first issued their prices on Sunday night, God Willing was originally one of the outsiders and was available at a top price of 18-1.

However, he was backed in the morning and again on course and went off at just 4-1, half a point longer than the winner.
