Bellshill looks the banker on a quality card

Credit: Edward Whitaker

There is quality all the way at Leopardstown, but plenty of trappy contests including the opening mares handicap hurdle (1.30) – a competitive ten-runner contest.

John Kiely will probably hope that the rain will stay away for Toe The Line, but she gets a vote after winning her maiden hurdle here last month. She is joined by I'm All You Need who has run well in a couple of handicaps since coming back, as well as another very consistent mare in Mill Quest, who finished ahead of I'm All You Need at Punchestown and is almost certain to run her race.

It is unusual for the two handicaps on the card to kick events off and there is plenty of quality in the second of them (2.00). Joshua Lane has been consistently let down by his jumping but he runs well fresh and can get into the shake-up. Lagostovegas looks likely to be involved if she can reproduce the form of her last two efforts here and at Naas, and it is interesting that Barry Geraghty chooses handicap debutant Canelieof the McManus runners and he gets a selection.
