Beaten favourites bid to make amends in key Navan handicap

An interesting Navan card kicks off with an 18-runner maiden hurdle (12.15) that has all the making of a match between bumper winners Cask Mate and Gran Geste, a pair whose respective claims are based on a line of form involving Joseph O'Brien's useful novice hurdler Us And Them.

Two long-range chasing prospects, the Willie Mullins-trained Next Destination and Cracking Smart, the pick of three runners for Gordon Elliott, are set to dominate the Grade 2 Navan Novice Hurdle (12.50), an event monopolised by the two trainers over the past six years.

The 2m4f Tara Handicap Hurdle (1.20) presents the biggest challenge of the day for Pick Six punters.
