Ayr Placepot picks: Richard Birch with a manageable perm for an interesting card

Soft Risk looked a horse of immense promise when barely coming out of cruise control to win his bumper at Ayr in May.

Bank on him for Ayr Placepot purposes to get his season off to the perfect start by landing the novice hurdle (12.30) under Brian Hughes.

Be The Difference, who started 6-4 favourite at Wetherby last time when beaten a length by Roc The House, can go one better in the 2m3f handicap hurdle (1.05).

Lambourn raider Bill Baxter stands out in the maiden hurdle (1.40), but things get more difficult for the rest of the card.

Perhaps Pammi, badly inconvenienced by a mistake five out over a longer trip at Kelso, can stay on for a place – or better – in the 2m4f mares' handicap hurdle (2.15).

Stablemate Sarvi, whose latest form figures read 44142, should run another bold race in a bid for a fifth career success.

Animore, a fluent Hexham winner two starts ago off a 6lb lower mark, and the Nicky Richards-trained Better Getalong, are the pair to concentrate on in the novice limited handicap chase (2.50).

Glittering Love and Finawn Bawn appeal in the 3m handicap chase (3.23).
