American racing maestro David Revers with two to follow on Friday
Ten Miles High
5.48 Tampa Bay Downs
1pt win
American Driven
7.20 Tampa Bay Downs
1pt win
In the south of America, Tampa Bay Downs starts in the late afternoon and boasts a mixed dirt and turf card. The 6f maiden claimer (5.48) looks particularly weak and shouldn’t take much winning.
Those to have raced – Saison, Arba, Tithed and Action Warrior – haven’t set a high bar to aim at for the newcomers and one in particular catches the eye.
Ten Miles High is trained by Kathleen O’Connell, who has a 26 per cent strike-rate at the track. She also saddled the winner of the maiden which rivals Action Warrior (third) and Tithed (fourth) ran in last time, indicating she knows the level needed to win this small contest.
Later on the card, American Driven tackles the 1m maiden claimer (7.20) after finding a maiden special weight tough last time out. He looks the value against likely favourite Old Fort, who finished ahead of the selection two starts back but doesn’t have a 7lb claimer on board this time, which could tip the balance in the five-year-old's favour.
