Akhlaaq just awesome on debut at Salisbury

>>There was a taking debut performance from Akhlaaq in the 6f maiden at Salisbury. Owen Burrows' colt looked booked for third entering the final furlong and was backed at 80 on Betfair, but he fairly flew in the last 50 yards to win a shade cosily from Sfumato, who was matched at 1.13.

>>Invocation was backed down to 1.08 approaching the final flight in the juvenile hurdle at Newton Abbot, but he landed flat-footed, letting in Nachi Falls. The runner-up is building an unenviable record, as it was his fourth second place in eight starts and he traded at odds-on each time.

>>Mount Vesuvius was matched at a big-looking 190 on his way to running out a ready winner of the 2m1f handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot.
