A lot of water has passed under the bridge since Abou Zouz took the Gimcrack Stakes for David Loder in 1996.
For breeders seeking speed, it has mostly been about Danzig – to the extent that his sire-line has accounted for ten Gimcrack winners since 1999.
The sire of Abou Zouz, Miswaki, has come to be viewed in quite a different light. Miswaki was no Danzig but by the time Abou Zouz came on the scene, the Kentucky stallion was regarded as a fine influence on both sides of the pond: a classy conduit of the Mr Prospector line, who could hand you a good runner on either dirt or turf.
