Sparkle Roll, a Kingman half-sister to Derby hero Wings Of Eagles, advertised her Investec Oaks claims with a decisive two-length victory in a 1m2f novice stakes for three-year-old fillies at Sandown on Friday.

The grey filly, trained by John Gosden for owners Kin Hung Kei, Qatar Racing and Laurent Dassault, was making her seasonal bow having broken her maiden over a mile at Haydock in impressive fashion last September.

Conceding seven pounds to all her rivals, she looked ill at ease on the good to firm ground but her innate talent saw her pull clear of runner-up King Power, a Frankel half-sister to another Epsom Classic winner in Talent.

Gosden said after the race: "Sparkle Roll has done that well under her seven-pound penalty. We waited for this novice as there were only two mile and a quarter races for three-year-old fillies with the other the maiden at Newbury.

"I'm very happy with her and we will point her towards the Musidora now. We like her a lot."

Debutante Sea Of Faith will have gone into many notebooks on her debut, staying on well to finish fourth behind Sparkle Roll under a considerate ride. The Sea The Stars filly is trained by William Haggas for the Tsui family's Sunderland Holdings – the same combination behind Arc runner-up Sea Of Class – and is a sister to this month's Group 1 Sydney Cup winner Shraaoh.

Sparkle Roll was bred by Aliette and Gilles Forien of the Kendor mare Ysoldina, winner of the Group 3 Prix de la Grotte and third in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.

That makes her a half-sister to four other winners – most notably Wings Of Eagles (by Pour Moi), who flew home to spring a surprise in the 2017 Derby and took third in the Irish version and now stands as a jumps stallion at Beeches Stud in County Waterford, but also the Listed-placed pair Gyrella and Torentosa (both by Oasis Dream).

Ysoldina is one of 13 winners out of the Foriens' magnificent matriarch Rotina, along with Prix Saint-Alary heroine Belle Et Celebre, Prix Jean Romanet and Premio Lydia Tesio winner Whortleberry, three-time Group 3 scorer Valentino, multiple Scandinavian champion Appel Au Maitre and the Listed-placed Causa Proxima.

Ysoldina has a Siyouni yearling filly and was covered by Galileo last year.

Sparkle Roll joins a growing list of useful performers by Banstead Manor Stud-based second-season sire Kingman, headed by stakes winners Calyx, Persian King, Look Around, Poetry and Sangarius.

Indeed, another potential Classic prospect by Kingman was revealed in the following race at Sandown, the 1m2f three-year-old handicap, which was won by Private Secretary by a comfortable two and a quarter lengths.

Bred and owned by Denford Stud, Private Secretary is out of the Listed-placed Darshaan mare Intrigued, making him a half-brother to St Leger third Michelangelo.

Sparkle Roll was bought by Ghislain Bozo's Meridian International and Qatar Racing manager David Redvers for €750,000 at the Arqana August Yearling Sale.

At the same sale Bozo and Redvers signed at €400,000 for an Invincible Spirit filly out of the Green Tune mare Polygreen on behalf of Kin Hung Kei and Qatar Racing. Named Big Brothers Pride, she won the Group 3 Prix Sigy by four lengths this month and her half-sister Polydream has emerged as a top-class racemare.
