Street Sense increased to $75,000 as Darley release US fees
Medaglia D'Oro remains most expensive member of Jonabell Farm roster
Street Sense has had his covering fee increased to $75,000 as Darley have published the tariff for its stallions standing at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky in 2020.
The champion two-year-old and Kentucky Derby-winning son of Street Cry has had his sire-power showcased this year by Whitney Stakes hero McKinzie and unbeaten wide-margin Breeders' Futurity winner Maxfield, both of whom appear to hold leading chances at the Breeders' Cup next month.
Street Sense, who has 11 Group/Grade 1 winners to his name across both hemispheres, had been pitched at $50,000 in 2019.
Medaglia D'Oro, source of 25 top-level winners around the world, will remain the most expensive member of the Jonabell Farm roster, with his fee held at $200,000.
The leading lights by the 20-year-old son of El Prado in 2019 have been Del Mar Oaks and Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup winner Cambier Parc and Pacific Classic scorer Higher Power.
In 2018, eight of his yearlings sold for seven figures in the ring, and this season another four have passed the $1 million marker. Darley claim he has sired more million-dollar yearlings than any other sire in North America over the last four years.
Medaglia D'Oro's son Astern, a Group 1 winner in his native Australia, will shuttle from the Hunter Valley once again and stand the nothern hemisphere season at $10,000.
Fellow Jonabell Farm residents Bernardini, Frosted, Hard Spun and Nyquist have all been priced at $40,000 next year.
Frosted and Nyquist both have their first yearlings on the ground, while Hard Spun's first crop since returning from Japan – now aged three – included 16 black-type horses headed by Grade 1 Ashland Stakes winner Out For A Spin.
Bernardini, meanwhile, notched his 15th Group/Grade 1 winner this year when Capezzano struck in the Al Maktoum Challenge at Meydan and has emerged as an important broodmare sire, his daughters having produced this season's elite winners Dunbar Road, Hunter O'Riley, Maxfield, Serengeti Empress and Wicked Whisper.
Street Boss, sire of five Grade 1 winners, has had his fee left unchanged at $20,000, as is the case for Midshipman, who remains on $8,500.
Jonabell Farm sales manager Darren Fox said: “We couldn’t be more pleased with the overall performance of our stallions this year. Nyquist and Frosted were very well received with their first yearlings and we are excited about their first two-year-olds hitting the track next year.
“Street Sense has gone from strength to strength and will be well represented at the Breeders’ Cup next month, as will Medaglia D'Oro who continues to deliver both on the racetrack and at the sales.”
