Night Of Thunder colt Loquito scores for striker Antoine Griezmann
Cagnes-sur-Mer winner hails from family of 1,000 Guineas heroine Ghanaati
Barcelona and France striker Antoine Griezmann, who recently entered the stallion market by standing his Group 3 winner Tornibush at Haras d'Ayguemorte, looks to have another smart prospect on his hands in the shape of Night Of Thunder colt Loquito.
The Philippe Decouz-trained youngster broke his maiden on his second start at Cagnes-sur-Mer on Saturday, ridden out to a two-length victory by Aurelien Lemaitre.
Bred by Haras d'Etreham, Loquito was signed for by Griezmann's Racing D Sas for €21,000 as a foal at Arqana and was retained for €42,000 when subsequently offered at the 2018 Arqana October Yearling Sale.
The three-year-old colt is a half-brother to the Listed winner Magnanime, who added his name to the Prix Finlande roll of honour, and traces back to the Oh So Sharp Stakes scorer Sarayir, a daughter of the Queen's champion filly and influential broodmare Height Of Fashion.
Sarayir is noted as the dam of the 1,000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes heroine Ghanaati and black-type winners Mawatheeq and Rumoush.
Night Of Thunder returned to Kildangan Stud this year after two covering seasons at Dalham Hall in Newmarket, and is available at a fee of €25,000.
The 2,000 Guineas-winning son of Dubawi, who shuttles to Darley's Kelvinside base in Australia, has supplied 31 winners to date led by Italian Group 2 winner Night Colours and fellow Pattern winners Under The Stars, Pocket Square and A Beautiful Night.
