Last year's 1,500,000gns Tattersalls Book 1 sale-topper set for Kempton bow
Rainbow Sky is by Sea The Stars and out of Lowther winner Best Terms
While the jumps season proper is well under way, Flat and pedigree fans will have the opportunity to see last year's Tattersalls Book 1 sale-topper in action when Rainbow Sky debuts at Kempton on Friday.
Lining up in the Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Novices' Stakes (5.15), Rainbow Sky will sport the colours of Godolphin after Sheikh Mohammed's operation purchased the daughter of Sea The Stars for 1,500,000gns at Park Paddocks last October.
Having been offered by Newsells Park Stud, the chestnut filly was bred by Robert Barnett and is the sixth foal out of the Lowther and Queen Mary Stakes winner Best Terms, a daughter of Exceed And Excel who in turn hails from the family of the brilliant Time Charter.
Rainbow Sky is therefore a full-sister to Listed Prix de Thiberville winner and Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac third Star Terms, as well as being a half-sibling to another stakes winner in Listed Prix Solitude scorer Fresh Terms.
A proud Barnett said after her sale: "She's the most athletic yearling we've had for quite some time. A lot of the breeders are actually buying them to race and breed, and in England as well, which is nice to see."
The Charlie Appleby runner is set to face 12 rivals on her racecourse bow. They include Urban Decay, Clipper Logistics' daughter of Frankel and two-time Listed winner Main Desire; Movie Star Looks, a Cracksman half-sister to Rockfel Stakes third I Love Me and from the family of Fillies' Mile victress Glorosia; and Khinjani, a Lanwades Stud homebred and Sir Percy full-sister to Listed juvenile scorer Kawida.
Another notable runner in the field is the once-raced Frankel filly Humankind, a Niarchos-bred daughter of Storm Cat mare Ama, a full-sister to the dam of Prix du Jockey Club hero Study Of Man and a half-sister to Kingmambo and East Of The Moon. They are all out of the exceptional racemare and producer Miesque.
Humankind is in turn a half-sister to stakes winner Lunar Maria and a close relation to the winning Aeonian, by Ulysses.
