Time's Arrow can hit the mark on debut in Chelmsford maiden

Gilt Edge Girl, who won the Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp for trainer Clive Cox, is likely to see her first runner appear on Saturday as Time's Arrow is one of two newcomers declared for the ten-runner 7f maiden at Chelmsford (7.45pm).

A Flaxman Stables homebred, Time's Arrow is by Redoute's Choice out of the chestnut mare, who caught the bidders' attention as part of the Paulyn Dispersal at the 2013 Goffs November Sale when bought by her current owners for €550,000.

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, Time's Arrow will be ridden by Ted Durcan.

Gilt Edge Girl showed her best over sprint distances at four, winning a Listed race at Bath and the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes at Leopardstown. She continued to race in Group company that summer and went on to win on her only Group 1 start in the Longchamp contest before being retired to stud.

The daughter of Monsieur Bond is a half-sister to Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes winner Godfrey Street, out of the unplaced Caerleon mare Tahara, who in turn is out of the 1,000 Guineas third Tarwiya.

Time's Arrow is the second of her offspring as her previous foal, the Oasis Dream filly Mollycoddled, sadly died in training at two.

Gilt Edge Girl also has a three-year-old Maxios colt named Gliding, in training with George Scott, and a two-year-old and yearling colt, both by Galileo.

Carigrad may not have to improve too much on his only previous start to play a part having finished third in a Lingfield maiden in October.

He is a half-brother to Group 3 winner Home Of The Brave and the pair are out of the Beat Hollow mare Blissful Beat, who sold for €235,000 on Arqana's online platform in January.

Jockey Luke Morris surely owes Gilt Edge Girl a debt of gratitude as she gave him one of two wins in the Prix de l'Abbaye, following Marsha's win at Chantilly last year.

He takes the ride on the improving Miss Mirabeau, a half-sister to Ebor Handicap winner Moyenne Corniche.
