Mukhadram - the Coral-Eclipse winner and Dubai World Cup runner-up who has commanded a £7,000 fee since his retirement to the Nunnery Stud - will see his first runner line up in the 5f novice stakes at Ripon today (2.15).

Dame Gladys, trained by Kevin Ryan and to be ridden by Kevin Stott, will run in the distinctive colours of Guy Reed Racing.

Mukhadram is a son of Shamardal, in turn a son of the Iron Horse Giant's Causeway, who sadly passed away this week.

Later in the day, over at Newcastle, Smile A Mile will hope to give his sire, the Diamond Jubilee Stakes hero Slade Power, a second winner in quick succession when he lines up in a novice stakes over the same trip (7.10).

Being a son of the Kingmambo mare Bergamask makes him a brother to Coventry Stakes scorer and sire Buratino and he will line up in the silver silks and tassel of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.

Moojim, a son of another freshman sire in Moohaajim, is also declared, and while Central Banker may not be a name familiar to most racing fans in Britain and Ireland, the Grade 2 winner and Malibu Stake runner-up will also see his first runner in the same contest.

So Hi Speed was purchased by Nick Bradley for $37,000 at last year's Keeneland September Yearling Sale, and will be ridden by Gerard Mosse for Robert Cowell.

Final thought

Yesterday saw glorious weather for the concluding session of the Craven Breeze-Up Sale at Park Paddocks. Here's hoping for more of the same as the sales action switches back to the jumps at Cheltenham for the Tattersalls Ireland April Sale.
