Lane's End releases 2018 fees for its roster
Dual Grade 1 winner Connect one of two new additions
Lane's End has become the latest Kentucky farm to release 2018 covering fees for its roster, with dual Grade 1 winner Connect to be introduced at a fee of $20,000.
Connect, a four-year-old son of Curlin, won six of his eight starts and notched his biggest victory in last year's Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap, while another newcomer, Unified, will be joining his sire Candy Ride at Lane's End. The four-year-old won the 1m1f Grade 2 Peter Pan Stakes last year for trainer James Jerkens.
Other young stallions standing at Lane's End in 2018 include Honor Code ($40,000), Tonalist ($30,000), Liam's Map ($25,000), and Mr Speaker ($10,000), who will all have their first foals going through the sales ring this November.
Meanwhile, Noble Mission, Frankel's year-younger brother, has been clipped from $25,000 to $20,000. His first yearlings went through the ring this year, eight of whom made six figures at Keeneland's September Sale.
"Continuing to find racehorses who turn into successful stallions is what the breeding business is all about," said Will Farish, owner of Lane's End Farm. "It is satisfying to know that we are offering a roster with a blend of young stallions proving their abilities, new stallions who possess a world of potential, and our firmly established stallions."
Also standing at Lane's End is Union Rags, the second highest sophomore sire by progeny earnings, and Quality Road, sire of this year's Kentucky Oaks winner Abel Tasman. Their fees, along with a fee for Candy Ride, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Twirling Candy - like Unified, a son of Candy Ride - is the second highest third-season sire by progeny earnings and has been boosted from $20,000 to $25,000.
Not on the roster is The Factor, who will stand in Japan in 2018 before returning to Lane's End for the 2019 season.
