Haras du Bois Emery enters fray with trio of new stallions
Same farm already bred Grade 1-winning hurdler Cilaos Emery
Following the arrival in recent weeks of Vertigineux at Nicolas Taudon's Haras du Bois Emery near Angers in the Loire Valley, it has emerged that the son of Nombre Premier will be joined by former Haras du Thenney studmates Cima De Triomphe and Mawatheeq.
They are the first three stallions set to stand at Bois Emery.
From a family of successful retailers, Nicolas Taudon has already bred a Grade 1-winning hurdler familiar to British and Irish jumps fans in the Willie Mullins-trained Cilaos Emery.
Vertigineux was trained by Carole Dufreche to win the Group 2 Prix Muguet and arrived at Bois Emery from Haras d'Ayguemorte in the south west of France. Retired to stud in 2011, his best performers to date from limited opportunities are the classy juvenile sprinters Becquamis and Du Pyla.
Out of an Italian Guineas winner, Cima De Triomphe was an early flagbearer for the Galileo-Danehill cross, winning the 2008 Derby Italiano for trainer Bruno Grizzetti, and Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown a year later for Luca Cumani.
The 12-year-old Cima De Triomphe was also retired in 2011 and shuttled from Thenney to South America, where he supplied local Group 1 winner Besitos.
Completing the trio is Mawatheeq, who is from the last crop of Danzig and won the Cumberland Lodge Stakes as well as finishing second to Twice Over in the Champion Stakes at four for Marcus Tregoning.
Transferred from the Nunnery Stud to Thenney after his first five years at stud, Mawatheeq is yet to supply any real standout performers, although he is a sibling to Classic performers Ghanaati and Rumoush and grandson of the Queen's blue hen Height Of Fashion.
