Grangecon Stud on the market with a €15 million asking price
Owner-breeder Rick Barnes purchased the stud farm in 2000
US owner-breeder Rick Barnes has put his Grangecon Stud on the market with an asking price of €15 million, having purchased the stud farm at the turn of the millennium.
The County Wicklow property, which is spread across 256 acres, boasts a Tudor residence in addition to its excellent stud farm facilities.
Among its graduates are Heatseeker and Sarah Lynx, both elite winners for the farm, and dual Group 2 winner and sire Universal. The farm is located beside David Nagle's Barronstown Stud.
The area is noted for its rich, fertile lands and for breeding thoroughbreds, with Grangecon situated close to Gilltown, Kildangan, New Abbey and the Irish National Stud. The Curragh racecourse is less than 25km away.
The accommodation within the house covers 1,199 square metres and includes five principal bedroom suites, with an adjoining apartment providing an additional two bedrooms.
Also included is a manager's house, three lodges and a groom's apartment. The three gate lodges flank the three gated entrances and are in good condition.
Grangecon is offered for sale with the main house fully furnished and the stud equipment and farm machinery included, and is jointly offered by Coonan Property, Goffs Property and Sotheby's.
