Galileo to the fore in our runner-by-runner Investec Oaks guide
Bye Bye Baby bred on the same cross as 2016 winner Minding
Bye Bye Baby
Pedigree b Galileo - Remember When (Danehill Dancer)
Breeder Remember When Syndicate
Bred on the same Galileo-Danehill Dancer cross as 2016 Oaks winner Minding, Bye Bye Baby will have no excuses based on pedigree should she fail to fire in Friday's feature race.
She is out of the 2010 Oaks runner-up Remember When, whose four runners to date have all achieved a Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 100 or greater. Remember When is out of Lagrion, who also produced a quartet of runners rated over 100, including Classic scorers Dylan Thomas and Homecoming Queen and the Cheveley Park Stakes scorer Queen's Logic.
Galileo, meanwhile, supplied Was, who ground out victory by a neck over Shirocco Star in the 2012 fillies' Classic.
Ejtyah
b Frankel - Darysina (Smart Strike)
Good Breeding
Hailing from a Marcel Boussac family bought into by the Aga Khan, Ejtyah will become the first Oaks runner for her sire, Frankel.
The Musidora Stakes third shares her granddam, the Prix Vermeille winner Daryaba, with popular Prix Ganay winner Dariyan, suggesting she could well possess the stamina reserves to see out the 1m4f trip.
Dual world champion Frankel has had two runners in the Derby, with Cracksman and Eminent finishing a close third and fourth respectively to the late-swooping Wings Of Eagles last year.
Flattering
b Galileo - Pikaboo (Pivotal)
Pikaboo Syndicate
Galileo's second Oaks runner is the Lingfield Oaks Trial third Flattering, yet another example of Coolmore's tried-and-tested policy of sending speedy mares to the Coolmore colossus, who already has an incredible 70 Group/Grade 1 winners to his name.
Flattering is bred on the same Galileo-Pivotal cross as Hydrangea, Rhododendron and The United States and is a half-sister to the Lowther and Duchess of Cambridge Stakes scorer Lucky Kristale.
They in turn are out of Pikaboo, a placed half-sister to Arabian Gleam - who won three Group 2 races over 7f, and the Listed-winning sprinter Kimberella.
Forever Together
b Galileo - Green Room (Theatrical)
Vimal And Gillian Khosla
Forever Together was a €900,000 yearling purchase for MV Magnier, and stamped her Oaks credentials after finishing a luckless second to Magic Wand in the Cheshire Oaks.
She is a half-sister to high-class sprinter-miler Lord Shanakill and Fillies' Mile heroine Together Forever, who notably finished a close fourth to Covert Love in the 2015 Irish Oaks.
Give And Take
b Cityscape - Grace And Glory (Montjeu)
Coln Valley Stud
Give And Take would give the Selkirk sire-line a much-needed boost were she to come home in front on Friday.
Owner-breeder Nicholas Jones' filly landed the Musidora Stakes, becoming the second Group winner for second-season sire Cityscape.
She is out of a daughter of Montjeu - one of only five sires to supply four winners of the Derby together with Blandford, Cyllene, Sir Peter Teazle and Waxy.
Grace And Glory is an unraced sister to the top-class Fame And Glory, whose five Group 1 wins included the 2010 Coronation Cup over the Oaks trip. She is also a sister to Yummy Mummy, the dam of 2015 Oaks runner-up Legatissimo.
I Can Fly
b Fastnet Rock - Madonna Dell'Orto (Montjeu)
Rockwell Bloodstock
I Can Fly is - like Give And Take - out of a daughter of Montjeu and was a 240,000gns yearling purchase at Tattersalls for her current connections.
Her sire, Fastnet Rock, is the progenitor of 35 top-flight scorers including 2015 Oaks winner Qualify, who sprung a 50-1 surprise when beating Legatissimo, and Alluringly, who was third to Enable in last year's edition.
A question mark hangs over her regarding stamina, as she is a half-sister to 7f Listed winner Viscount Barfield, out of a placed half-sister to the top-class miler Landseer, and the 1m2f winner Ikhtyar, neither of whom raced beyond ten furlongs.
Magic Wand
b Galileo - Prudenzia (Dansili)
Ecurie Des Monceaux & Skymarc Farm Inc
Magic Wand is arguably the best bred filly as a closely related sister to Chicquita, who became the most expensive racehorse sold at public auction in Ireland when snapped up for €6 million by Peter and Ross Doyle from the Paulyn dispersal at Goffs in 2013.
Prudenzia already had two million-plus Arqana yearlings to her name when Chicquita set the Goffs ring alight, and Magic Wand is one of another two that she has produced in the interim, having been acquired by the Doyles, MV Magnier and Markus Jooste for €1.4 million in 2014.
She ran out a commanding winner of the Cheshire Oaks and, intriguingly, is bred on the same cross as last year's Derby runner-up Cliffs Of Moher.
Perfect Clarity
b Nathaniel - Clarietta (Shamardal)
Bluehills Racing Limited
Newsells Park Stud's third-season sire Nathaniel will be relying on Perfect Clarity to become his second consecutive winner of the Oaks after Enable overcame runner-up Rhododendron and biblical storms to run out a decisive winner of last year's running.
Breeders and buyers with smaller budgets will no doubt be cheering on the Lingfield Oaks Trial winner as she was a mere 30,000gns yearling purchase from the Castlebridge Consignment.
Perfect Clarity is out of Clarietta, a Listed-placed half-sister to another winner of the Lingfield Trial in Cassydora, who may have finished closer than seventh in the 2005 Oaks had she not met with trouble in running.
Clarietta has also produced the Listed-winning Law Power and the Listed-placed Clarentine, while Cassydora has produced triple Group 3 winner Ernest Hemingway and the smart Frankel filly Toulifaut.
Wild Illusion
b Dubawi - Rumh (Monsun)
Godolphin
Wild Illusion could be the filly to end Dubawi's Epsom hoodoo, with the 2016 Oaks third Lady Of Dubai his only placed runner in the Epsom Classics to date.
He has, however, supplied 35 Group/Grade 1 winners, several of whom won Group 1s over 1m4f, including Postponed, Zarak and Journey.
The Fittocks Stud-bred filly is out of the Monsun mare Rumh, who recorded two of her four wins in two-mile races, while high-class middle-distance performers Electrocutionist, Free Port Lux and Royal Highness feature prominently in her pedigree.
