Floral Splendour heads Tattersalls Online Sale at 36,000gns
Daughter of Farhh was a six-length winner on debut for James Tate
The Tattersalls September Online Sale saw the winning daughter of Farhh, Floral Splendour, sell to Castle Construction North East for 36,000gns.
Bred by Genesis Green Stud, the three-year-old had struck by six lengths on debut for James Tate and owner Sheikh Hamed Dalmook Al Maktoum at Haydock in July. She failed to fire when stepped up in grade next time but bounced back for third at Wolverhampton earlier this month.
Successful purchaser Colin Dorman said: "I'm really excited with the filly and I think the new trainer will be too! She will go to Iain Jardine and will go straight there so he can have a look at her. She will spend the winter at Cliff Stud.
"I was looking for something that hadn’t been raced much that we could start off with next year. She has only had a couple of races and has won once and I thought that was good form for a filly. Hopefully we can build on that next year. She comes from a good trainer and they have decent horses. We are very much looking forward to racing her on."
Floral Splendour, who sold to Blandford Bloodstock for 57,000gns from Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, is the fifth foal out of the winning Kheleyf mare Red Tulip, a half-sister to American Graded winner and Grade 1-placed Legendary.
In turn a half-sister to French winner Bright Crescent (by Sea The Moon), Floral Splendour hails from a family that includes black type winners Red Carnation and Red Fort, the latter also placed at the top level in America.
The second highest top lot of the sale came in the form of Jipekaa Machin, a son of Saonois who was placed on his three starts for Hugo Merienne. The three-year-old sold to Donald McCain for 35,000gns.
The gelding is out of the winning Fly To The Stars mare Salsavina and comes from a family with plenty of smart performers in both codes. They include Caulfield Cup winner Taufan's Melody, stakes scorers Free To Speak and Super Native plus Graded-placed hurdler Krabloonik, third in both the Kingwell and Elite Hurdles.
Overall 18 lots sold for turnover of 175,800gns, average of 9,767gns and median of 4,500gns.
