Catalogue out for breeze-up sale whose most recent star graduate was Far Above
Tattersalls' Guineas breeze-up takes place on July 6, with the sale on July 8
Signs of normality continued on Thursday when Tattersalls unveiled their catalogue online for the 2020 Guineas Breeze-Up Sale.
Numbering 157 juveniles, the sale takes place on Wednesday, July 8, with the two-year-olds breezing at Newmarket's Rowley Mile on the Monday before from 9am.
Graduates of the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale have made a flying start since the resumption of racing, headed by James Tate’s sprint star Far Above, the impressive winner of the Group 3 Palace House Stakes at Newmarket but sadly forced into retirement by an injury sustained in that explosive win.
Still, Far Above is the most recent of a remarkable 49 Group and Listed performers produced by the Guineas Breeze-Up Sale since 2015.
No fewer than 33 of the sires with two-year-olds catalogued have already sired Classic or Group 1 winners, including Dark Angel, Exceed And Excel, Kodiac, No Nay Never and Sea The Stars.
The top-class US-based Kitten's Joy, sire of the 2,000 Guineas winner Kameko, is also represented in the catalogue alongside promising young sires Dialed In and Noble Mission.
These are joined by a strong contingent of 24 first-crop sires including Group 1 winners Belardo, Harzand, Shalaa, Territories and Vadamos.
Owners and trainers also have the added incentive of 25 two-year-olds eligible for the Plus 10 Bonus Scheme and a further nine eligible for lucrative French Premiums. Three juveniles are also entered for the inaugural €200,000 Irish EBF Ballyhane Stakes and one for the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes.
Commenting on the catalogue, Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: “Guineas Breeze-Up graduates have excelled since the resumption of racing with recent Group 3 Palace House Stakes winner Far Above showcasing the quality and value for money that buyers have come to expect from the sale.
"This year’s catalogue features a strong selection of quality two-year-olds that we are confident will appeal to buyers in all sectors of the market.”
