Another potential breeze-up star on show for King at Wolverhampton
The trainer of Trueshan and Asymmetric runs well-bred juvenile Bit Harsh
Alan King's record with his breeze-up buys is impressive, with 2021's champion stayer Trueshan amongst the gems King and the Highflyer Bloodstock team have unearthed at the sales.
The Barbury Castle trainer unveils an acquisition from Kilminfoyle House Stud on this year's breeze-up circuit at Wolverhampton on Monday (4.30), an Australia colt who cost 40,000gns at the Guineas Sale.
Bit Harsh is a half-brother to Lemista, a daughter of Raven's Pass who was a Group 2 and Group 3 winner at three last year for Ger Lyons and was third in the Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes for Chad Brown and Peter Brant in 2021.
He is also a half-brother to Mummy Bear, a three-year-old daughter of Kodi Bear who won twice this year for Richard Hannon. They were bred by Drumlin Bloodstock and Bit Harsh made his first trip to the sales as a foal, when he was sold for 58,000gns by Yellowford Farm to JC Bloodstock.
They are the only runners so far out of Shortmile Lady, an Arcano half-sister to Indian Maiden, successful in the Group 3 Prix de Meautry and a further seven Listed races. The daughter of Indian Ridge is the dam of Group 3 winner Maid In India and Listed winner Love Spirit.
His third dam Minifah is a half-sister to Winning Colors, one of only three fillies to win the Kentucky Derby.
Susan Roy's homebred Churchill half-brother to Lennox Stakes and Jersey Stakes winner Dutch Connection is another who will make his racecourse debut in the contest. Grand Alliance is trained by Charlie Fellowes and is also a half-brother to the Listed-placed Dutch Romance.
Their dam Endless Love is an unraced Dubai Destination daughter of Listed Montrose Stakes winner La Vita E Bella, who is a Definite Article half-sister to Harry Rosebery Stakes and Dragon Stakes winner Bella Tusa and to the dam of 2020 Rose Bowl Stakes winner Method.
Operating is one of a number of horses the Coolmore partners have in training with John and Thady Gosden, and the War Front brother to Group 3 winner Intelligence Cross makes his debut in the Tabor silks. He is also a brother to Warning Flag (Sweet Orange in Hong Kong) who was a Listed winner in both Ireland and Hong Kong, where he was also placed in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup.
They are out of Good Vibes, a winning daughter of Unbridled's Song, and she hails from the family of Coronation Stakes, Irish 1,000 Guineas and Nassau Stakes winner Crimplene.
The field of 11 also contains Playday, who was second on her most recent start for Ralph Beckett and owner-breeders John and Tanya Gunther. The daughter of Frankel is out of Posset, an Oasis Dream sister to champion Midday.
In the extended mile novice (6.00) John and Thady Gosden introduce Eternal Summer, a three-year-old daughter of Kingman and the Group 3 Summer Stakes winner Rose Blossom.
Racing in the white and green silks of George Strawbridge, Eternal Summer is a half-sister to five winners from as many runners and was bought for 350,000gns by Blandford Bloodstock from Lofts Hall Stud, who bred Eternal Summer with Ben Sangster, at Tattersalls October Book 1.
