With the foal sales over for another year, we have the opportunity to take a step back and assess the market’s valuation of the stock that came under the hammer.

The sires who prove hot, or sometimes not, are always a major talking point, and while there is always room for a degree of subjectivity, there is no greater aid when making an appraisal of public auction results than the cold, hard facts.

While not infallible, with anomalous sums or varying sample sizes having a factor, the average price a given stallion’s progeny command can often tell us plenty.
