After nearly two years' absence due to the coronavirus pandemic, action returns to the Tattersalls Ascot sales arena on Thursday, when drafts from the likes of Godolphin, Gordon Elliott and Richard Hannon take centre stage alongside a number of point-to-pointers, yearlings and stores.

The Tattersalls Ascot November Sale looks the place to be for buyers from both codes and at all levels, while the 2019 sale top lot came in the form of Charlotte Rosina, whose son Oxted went on to make her £45,000 price tag look a bargain when winning the 2020 July Cup and this year's Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

Those who dismiss cheap purchases should do so at their peril, lest they forget the tale of the remarkable Skyace, who failed to win in three starts for Willie Mullins.

In what amounts to a fairytale, not to mention an incredibly shrewd bit of business, the subsequent Grade 1 Mares Novice Hurdle Championship Final and Down Royal Grade 3 winner was picked up for just £600 by Shark Hanlon from Graiglore Stables at the 2019 sale.

Elliott's Cullentra House Stables consign six lots, including winning hurdler Clondaw Secret (Lot 122), a son of Court Cave, the once-raced Kevin's Choice (117), a five-year-old son of Authorized, and Oh Purple Reign (96), a four-year-old son of Sir Prancealot who was second in the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton and was a winner on the beach at Laytown on Monday.

Godolphin also consign six horses in training, including the useful Kingman gelding Throne Hall (66), a dual winner for Kevin Ryan, Prix Chaudenay runner-up Nemean Lion (63), also a winner this term for Andre Fabre, and Strozzi (65), a two-year-old winning son of Holy Roman Emperor.

Other notable offerings at the Ascot Racecourse Stables venue include Jamie Osborne's three-time winning Hot Streak gelding Hot Scoop (51), Park House Stables' multiple winning Spirit Warning (58), a son of Charm Spirit, the Weathercock House Stables-consigned Tamayuz filly Twice As Likely (71), a four-time winner for Richard Hughes, and Bedford House Stables' The Kodi Kid (45), a dual winner and recently third at Chester.

Horses will be available to view from 8am on the morning of the sale, which starts at 10.30am. The full catalogue can be viewed at www.tattersallsascot.com.
