Back at the scene of last year's success, Cue Card bids to become the seventh horse to win this on two occasions since it became an open event in 1983. When he starts in October he is unbeaten and obviously great when fresh, but the one difference this year is that he has the 10lb Grade 1 penalty.

Menorah will be attempting to follow Wayward Lad, Barton Bank and Ollie Magern, who won this for a second time after a gap of a year. Unlike the three old heroes, he still has the maximum penalty due to his continual success at Sandown's end-of-season fixture in April.
