York Placepot picks: Tom Segal has an affordable perm for the Sunday card

With all four runners in the Biowavego Garrowby Stakes at York (3.15) having realistic chances and only one Placepot place on offer it was tempting to include all the runners.

However that would lead to the perm becoming too expensive and so it's probably best to include the improving Great Ambassador, who should appreciate the fast ground, while the unexposed Fivethousandtoone is capable of better than he's shown.

First Folio was so impressive over course and distance back in June that he has to be included in the John And Judith Marshall Memorial Handicap (2.40). However he's not been in quite the same form since, so it makes sense to stick in Imperium Blue as well. The latter shaped as though this distance would suit when staying on late over 5f at this track last time.

The other race to include a couple in is the final leg (4.50) because all six runners look to have a chance.

Pivoine has such a good record at the track that he goes in, while King Triton stayed on well over a mile at York last time and might improve for the step up in trip.

Sophie's Star is the clear form choice in the opening novice stakes (2.10) and has a good 5lb claimer offsetting her penalty. She looks banker material, as does Mistrix in the other juvenile race (3.45). He was a long way clear of the rest when second at Salisbury last time.

There aren't many in-form horses contesting the Little Green Rascals Children's Nurseries Handicap (4.20). The obvious exception is Gift Of Raaj, who seemed to win with plenty up his sleeve at Musselburgh and only went up 4lb.
