Comporta could be a long-term project as he looks sure to be far more competitive in handicaps in due course. He was a low-grade handicapper on the Flat in Britain – he won a handicap at Yarmouth in the summer of 2018 – and his two completed runs in Ireland over hurdles have been promising.

He arguably showed more promise on his Punchestown debut last month over 2m4f when 18 lengths off Blue Sari, but his Thurles run was okay too. His jumping was sketchy and he had no chance of getting involved from the end of the back straight, but he kept going and was not disgraced.
