Veteran has been given a real chance after quick drop by handicapper

No. 6
Savello
2.00 Stratford
1pt win at 9-2Savello has dropped 14lb in the handicap for what on the face of it were three pretty poor runs since February, but he actually shaped a lot better than his final finishing position in the Red Rum at Aintree last time.

In truth, he's not really up to that level of handicap any more, especially on sticky ground, but the 12-year-old moved pretty well throughout the race and was making ground before effectively running straight through the fifth-last.

He is in much calmer waters here on better ground which suits him so well and while he doesn't run beyond 2m very often, one of his best ever performances came in victory over 2m2f and he wasn't beaten that far in a 2m6f Galway Plate a few years ago off a mark of 151.
