Verdicts and tips on all races from Kranji on Friday

If you are thinking of having a bet on the Polytrack at Kranji on Friday, do not bet blind. Our team have picked through all nine races on the card, supplying a verdict on each.

10.20 - 5f handicap

A few of these are returning to the right grade, not least Rapid Fire, who made up an impressive amount of ground when confidently ridden to win over C&D in January. His slow-starting style leads to some nerve-wracking moments for his supporters but there should be more success for him in this grade granted a clear run.

Prominent-racer Pioneer Seven has to overcome a high draw but he has been giving it plenty of late and seemed to be suited by the return to 5f this month. Well Deserved has fallen well short in his recent starts but he is back on the same mark and in the same grade as his December win so has to be of more interest again. Winner Number One and El Chapo are also considered.

10.50 - 1m½f handicap

Sportscaster's modest overall strike-rate is overshadowed by his two wins from only four C&D starts and this in-form prominent racer looks sure to go well from a favourable draw.

Slight preference, though, is for Scooter, as although he may not be the easiest of rides, he did travel well before getting off the mark in good style from Holy Grail over C&D last month. The bare form is nothing special but the style of his win suggests he may well have more to offer now he's got his head in front.

El Primero has yet to win but there is nothing wrong with his attitude, in fact quite the reverse, and his good effort from off the pace over 1m on turf recently, when suffering some interference, suggests his turn is coming.

11.20 - 5½f maiden

This shouldn't take a great deal of winning on the face of it and Showbound is taken to improve on his recent run in a stronger race. Although he never threatened from a wide draw, he did show clear signs of ability and there should be more to come from him.

Awesome Conqueror had been ticking over at a modest level but his recent second was an improvement and, despite a slight reservation about this shorter trip, he does seem to be moving in the right direction. Saint Knight, who nosed ahead in a recent trial, may be best of the remainder.

11.50 - 5½f handicap

The three-year-old Moongate Star endured a wide trip over C&D last month but kept on for a good second and should enjoy a more beneficial passage today from stall five.

Royal Pavilion was not far behind the selection that day, having also raced wide, but the chief threat could come from Whistle Grand, who stormed home for fourth over half a furlong shorter here two runs ago and did not enjoy a clear passage last time out.

First Choice and Golden Dash arrive on the back of good runs and can also go well.

12.20 - 5f handicap

The performance of Red Roar over 6f on the Polytrack two starts ago marks him down as a major player over today's shorter trip. He ran a good race until getting tired late on and could relish now tackling 5f.

Super Win was fourth from a wide draw over C&D last time out but is one stall further out today. Elite Saint has had much better luck with the draw, which was not the case last time out, and he could be the main danger. Dominic was baulked at the start most recently and kept on nicely having been well behind.

12.50 - 6f maiden

The eyecatching candidate in this maiden contest is Gold Prize, who is lightly raced and produced a promising display last time out. He effectively lost all chance in that 6f maiden on turf when hampered at the start, so running on so well to take third showed he is still capable of better.

St Alwyn was second over 6f on turf on his penultimate start, taking the latest of many minor honours, but that was a battling performance. Geb Warrior too has seen a lot of racing in comparison with the selection, with plenty of place returns, and he looks vulnerable to something with a bit of potential despite today's return to Polytrack.

1.20 - 1m handicap

British attention will be glued to Minister, who was formerly trained by Andrew Balding, under the name Bye Bye Hong Kong, and started last season showing smart form over 1m before struggling in the 7f Jersey at Royal Ascot in his final race. He has been trialling well prior to this Singapore race debut and is still owned by King Power.

Inherit is in good form and proved he stays 1m on his latest outing, while Yaya Papaya bids for a C&D hat-trick but will probably be lucky to enjoy the sort of charmed run which saw him narrowly home in front last time. Luck Of Master's hat-trick attempt came unstuck last month but that tactical race looked all against this 5yo who comes from well off the pace.

Elite Conquest is one of several who need to prove their stamina. The step back up in trip contrastingly looks a big positive for Wolf Warrior, who is well handicapped too, but he has plenty to prove on turf.

13.50 - 1m handicap

The key may well lie in a 13-runner handicap over C&D three weeks ago that was contested by several of these, including Made In Russia, who came from last to second, passing third-placed The Wild Bunch close home. The latter is the only three-year-old in this field and raced in the front rank throughout on that first attempt at 1m. He stayed the trip okay and may well have more improvement in him but Made In Russia is surely capable of winning off this mark and had been running over shorter distances before that latest start, in which he met trouble in running. He could easily have more to offer now that his stamina has been established.

Elite Silverghost was an eyecatcher with his strong finish last time but that was over 6f on Polytrack and his stamina beyond that has not been proved. Athletica was a close third over 1m1f on his latest start. McGregor is one of several coming down the weights and/or in class.

2.20 - 5½f handicap

The starting point is probably Celavi, who has won both her starts here when on Polytrack and did the job in impressive style over 5f last time out. That was from stall eight but she still made virtually all the running and has the assistance of a slightly lower stall number here.

Toosbies was runner-up over C&D in February and is well drawn again, whereas the ex-Australian Sun Chess, who dominated a trial ten days ago, now finds himself in stall 14. First Chief showed plenty of pace in a 6f turf race on his recent Singapore debut but he’s been allotted stall 13.

Chalaza could be doing his best work at the finish but perhaps will be doing so too late this time, just as when he took second over C&D on New Year's Day. Uncle Lucky has been in better form again recently but is now back up the weights.
