US racing tips: Tom Collins follows up last week's winner with two at Belmont

Jack Christopher
9.40 Belmont Park
2pts win

Code Of Honour
10.45 Belmont Park
1pt win

Another Saturday, another phenomenal day of racing in New York. Belmont Park hosts an 11-race card that features two Grade 1s, as well as the Grade 2 Miss Grillo Stakes (7.33), which should be dominated by the Chad Brown-trained McKulick and Kinchen.

Four of the top seven two-year-olds in the ante-post Breeders' Cup Juvenile market will face off in the $500,000 Champagne Stakes (9.40), which has been won by the likes of Uncle Mo (2010), Tiz The Law (2019) and Jackie's Warrior (2020) in recent seasons.

Hopeful Stakes one-two Gunite and Wit command respect but might be bumping into two superstar colts in My Prankster and Jack Christopher, both of whom earned a 92 Beyer on their respective debuts at Saratoga in August.

My Prankster showed searing speed on his first start to record a wide-margin win and he figures to be on the pace again from a good draw. But a likely battle with Gunite could set this up for the Chad Brown-trained Jack Christopher, who translated mouthwatering work to race conditions on his debut.

The son of Munnings showcased a push-button turn of foot once asked to clear away by Jose Ortiz, who rides again, and his recent breezes at this venue should have him spot on to maintain his unbeaten record.

Six highly talented dirt routers head to post for the $500,000 Woodward Stakes (10.45) later on the Belmont card. Maxfield is sure to take plenty of money but first-time blinkers and a skinny price put me off.

I prefer Code Of Honour now he returns to Belmont, a venue he seems to always run well at (form figures 211132). The classy deep closer should get a suitable set-up with Mo Gotcha and Art Collector in opposition and showed no sign of rust off a seven-month layoff at Monmouth last time out.
