US racing tips: Shane Ketteridge with two selections at Churchill Downs

Misty Veil
10.05pm Churchill Downs
1pt each-way

Coach
10.35pm Churchill Downs
2pt win

The Grade 3 Chilukki Stakes has been won by some lovely fillies and mares over the years including in 2015 when the Brad Cox-trained Spelling Again took the honours. This year the trainer is looking to add to that sole victory with course winner Coach.

This four-year-old filly has some very good form in the book and I doubt we have seen the best of her yet. She has won five of her 12 starts, two of which were in stakes company, and finished in the first three in four of her other seven outings.

Her course win came as a two-year-old in the Rags To Riches Overnight Stakes – that was a comfortable victory over an extended mile trip – and recent speed figures suggest she is improving with age.

It only looks a matter of time before she wins a Graded contest and she should come on a huge amount from her latest second at Laurel Park, which was her first start for nearly eight months.

A field of 18 are set to go to post for the competitive $134,000 allowance optional claimer over an extended mile trip on the turf. A case can be made for a few in this field, with Barista and Wicked Groove holding strong chances, but I like Misty Veil.

A two-time winner in this grade with winning course form, she has a live chance of hitting the board at double-figure odds. She can go well from a good draw in stall five.
